Recap
We had some amazing games last week. Some upsets and some teams who were supposed to win but got a scare in advancing. We started the week with Yusuf leading La Familia to a big upset of Phantoms. The team centric approach is working as they roared back from a double digit deficit to take down Qasim and the squad. The Knights took on the team everyone said was too stacked in Muzz’ Panthers. Well they took it to them all game and basically were in control for the whole second half and ran away sending them packing. Primetime soared out to an early lead on Zia’s Legend Killers but they wouldn’t go easy with Talha dropping a 30 piece on the commissioners team to keep fighting back but Primetime led by a huge offensive game from Aadil are into the semis. The game of the night though belonged to Tower and the Tigers. Big underdogs Tigers went at Tower early going up double digits in the first half. But a common them for this team is falling apart at the end and Oliver continued his MVP campaign playing great defense and getting huge second chance opportunities to advance Tower in the end.

8:15 Primetime vs La Familia
This should be a great game. While I said La Familia had a spark I didn’t see them taking down Phantoms the way that they did. Primetime on the other hand can’t seem to win a game easy, always making it tough on themselves. That’s a bad combination because Yusuf and his guys have proven they don’t mind playing from behind. For Primetime they got contributions from all their players last week as usual spark plugs Imran and AZ contributed less than 10 points combined. Luckily Aadil, Yahya and Moody were hitting threes to keep the offense buzzing. Daud is a sleeper contributor off the bench as he provides scrappy defense and can knock down the three. For Yusuf the big contributor these last couple of weeks has been Yaseen, hitting big threes especially when they are trailing. Sajed and Zaki have been a solid backcourt and both play tough games. The big man rotation with Yusuf, Saief and Asif has come up with some big buckets. Taseen may be the steadiest shot maker they have and Moho brings everything to the floor whenever he’s on there. I was told that several members of the La Familia team told me to “keep the same energy” so I’m gonna say they come up a little short of a finals appearance but congratulations to Yusuf in his second year as a captain.

9:30 Tower Knights
This should be an offensive show. Tower are at their best on offense in transition. Jon and Oliver get a lot of steals and between them and Afridi they finish those plays well. Riz had an off night last week but against the smaller line of Knights might have a good game in him. Taha, Nabil and Usa have all played Crescent playoff games before and know what it will take to win. The Knights are a big two with a lot of help. Amged and Hassan are perfect together, they can both shoot and play pesky defense while Hassan is a top slasher and Amged is a great ball handler. Throw in the green light monster in Ismail and you have a dangerous three headed three point threat. Mohsin and Abdullah are tough as nails though Abdullah will have to avoid the silly fouls that plagued him last week. Mutasim and Abuzar will need to have big defensive performances to keep Riz at bay this week. If we have questions with both of these teams it would be can Tower score in the half court? It was trouble for them last week and Tigers took advantage at times. For the Knights, what if the shots aren’t falling? Can they create enough offense in different ways. We think this will be a fun game but in the end tie goes to the best player on the floor which is Oliver.
